Visual Arts Committee of Crawford County Arts The Visual Arts Committee is a vital part of Crawford County Arts as it reaches out into the community to offer artists opportunities to exhibit their work and to offer the public unique events to broaden artistic appreciation. CCA, through the Visual Arts Committee, has successfully sponsored the Annual Art Show every year since 1989. For the past several years it has been held at the Fife Opera House on Main Street, Palestine. This art show is an open exhibition for the public for two weeks in late April and/or early May. Area businesses and individuals support and participate in the show by purchasing various works of art as Purchase Awards. Monetary awards and a People's Choice award are given. Artists may submit entries in media except photography as there is a separate photography show. Entries for the art show include paint, pastels, ceramics, sculpture, woodcraft, and hand-crafted jewelry. Check this website for entry forms. A new endeavor for CCA is to support three art shows which are being hosted by Lincoln Trail College in the late summer and early fall. A Senior Art Show is held in August, a Photography Show is held in September, and a Children's Art Show is held in November in the Eagleton Learning Resource Center. The photography show features original work from professional and amateur photographers. The show is judged and critiqued. Entry forms and information for all three shows is available at the LTC Learning Resource Center, or you may contact the arts council CCA and the Visual Arts Committee have enjoyed a successful history. Building on this foundation the committee plans to research, create and sponsor new and exciting events for the community with the goal of enhancing and enriching not only the artist's experience but also the experiences of those who appreciate visual art.
